Kazakh Minister discusses potential of supercomputer in government

Tengrinews.kz - At a government briefing, Science and Higher Education Minister Sayasat Nurbek was asked whether the supercomputer would replace government members in the future.
According to the minister, it is too early to make such predictions at this stage.
"Will artificial intelligence replace humans? There are many studies indicating that a certain portion of the workforce will be replaced by algorithms. As for the government, it's too soon to say. There have been large-scale social experiments, such as in China, where algorithms have been implemented in HR departments, and there have even been attempts to replace leadership roles. Unfortunately, these attempts have not led to positive outcomes. So, it's still early to discuss this," said Sayasat Nurbek.
He noted, that planned supercomputer is not the first in Kazakhstan. The first was introduced in 2010, and a second similar computer was imported from India in 2013. However, the technology has since become outdated.
"We are increasing our production capacity 10 times this year due to the free supply of equipment from the Indian government. We will also receive the most powerful supercomputer for our national university named after Al-Farabi under the agreement with China," said the head of the science minister.
