A combustion engine that emits 50 percent less hazardous substances then a regular one has been invented in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. Doctor Viktor Bondarenko who works for Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University in Astana and his colleagues constructed the new engine a year ago. The invention can work on gas, petrol or diesel fuel. “Its advantage is that it emits 30 percent less of hazardous exhausts. And if t works on biomethane, it emits 50 percent less exhausts. We have constructively changed its gas distribution mechanism and collector. Two valves are used at the same time to intake and exhaust. This is an absolutely new system. They have tried to develop it in Europe but failed. But we did it,” Bondarenko said. The scientists have received a patent for their invention, but things have not move any further for them. According to Bondarenko, the state, just as the local car manufacturers, are still not interested in the invention. But being patriots, the constructors want to cooperate with European companies only on condition of Kazakhstan’s participation. Besides, the scientist says that Kazakhstan needs to start producing biomethane. According to him, biological wastes are piling up every year in the country. Kazakhstan now uses a method where organic substances are disintegrated by air. Such method generates a lot of methane emissions into the atmosphere which wast the precious energy and pollutes the environment. By Vladimir Prokopenko
