Pavlodar farmer Alexander Pessotsky employes innovative technologies to tend his cattle. He has attached GPS-transmitters to the cows’ necks. These devices transmit data about the cows’ whereabouts via a satellite. If the herd leaves their usual pasture ground, the owner of the cows will be informed about this via his mobile phone and he will also receive an e-mail with the exact coordinates of the cows’ location.

“It is the most convenient way to fight against cattle-stealers, whose operations cause a lot of problems all over the oblast and all over Kazakhstan. I find these transmitters really helpful,” the farmer said to Channel 31.

Alexander’s neighbors are also interested in this 'electronic shepherd'. Many farmers are sure that this device could help put an end to raiding of herds.
