Kazakhstan is working on confessional accord project until 2016

Kazakhstan is working on development of a project of confessional accord to be implemented until 2016, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Nursultan Nazarbayev as saying in his welcoming speech at the 4th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. “High values preached by every religion – Islam, Orthodox and Catholic Christianity, Protestantism, Judaism, Buddhism and others – have always been supported by Kazakhstan state policies. That’s why the spiritual renaissance has been in process in our country for over 20 years. New mosques and cathedrals are being built. We are working on development of the program for enhancement of confessional accord to be implemented until 2016,” Kazakhstan President said. He noted that Kazakhstan has created its own model of inter-ethnic accord. “An effective model of peace and accord is one of the foundations of the successful development of our country. Independent Kazakhstan is the country with 140 ethnic groups living in peace and accord. We have been included into the top three countries with the most dynamic economy in the first decade of the 21st century. We have created our own model of inter-ethnic accord,” Nazarbayev said. “Kazakhstan citizen of any ethnic group and religion is an equal-righted citizen and an integral part of the common civil society. We are creating conditions for every person to exercise his religion, learn and practice the language, culture and traditions of his ethnic group.” By Aidana Ussupova
