A former student of the Islamic school for women of Almaty Central Mosque filed a complaint to the prosecutor’s office requesting a check into the activities of the school, Tengrinews.kz reports. Zhanar Boranbayeva said that she went to the Islamic school in 2010 and took a course, which is proven by the certificate that she got in the end. According to the woman, the school resembled a sect and the female students were told that they were slaves and have to obey men completely. In particular, the former student complained about the teacher Talgat Sapanov. According to her, he once suggested that one of the female students get into an intercourse with someone named Duissen who worked as a guard in the mosque, but the teacher introduced Duissen as Naib-Imam. The Mosque denies all the accusations of the young woman. According to deputy senior Imam Zhumanazar Sadyrkhanov, the woman did not take any courses in the mosque. Every student is registered in the mosque, while there is no information on Zhanar Boranbayeva, he said. Sadyrkhanov confirmed that Talgat Sapanov works in the mosque as the senior teacher. However, there have been no complains about him. As for Duissen, deputy imam said that such person worked as a guard in the mosque from 2008 to 2011 but never was a Naib-Imam. Earlier Boranbayeva stated that the young students were forced to become wives of the imams. She said that the students were “like free prostitutes” for imams. When the imam got bored with his young wife, he found a reason to divorce her and the woman was passed on to another imam, Zhanar Boranbayeva said.
