“We rejoice in the achievements of a brotherly nation”: Tokayev meets Mongolian president

Tengrinews.kz - The presidents of Kazakhstan and Mongolia held talks in a narrow format, according to the Akorda press service.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the two nations are united by a shared history and common roots.

“We are descendants of nomadic civilizations. Kazakhs and Mongols have been close neighbors for centuries. The way of life and traditions of our peoples are similar. Today, these enduring values form the foundation of our friendship. Currently, cooperation between our countries is developing in the spirit of strategic partnership. Intergovernmental, interparliamentary and interstate ties are strengthening. Mr. President, thanks to your personal contribution, our relations are reaching a new level. I highly appreciate this. Thanks to your tireless work, significant positive transformations are taking place in Mongolia,” Tokayev said.

The Kazakh president recalled that Mongolia’s economy grew by 6.8 percent in 2025.

“This achievement has undoubtedly been made possible thanks to your wise policy. Under your leadership, important initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of the people have been implemented. We are aware that Mongolia is implementing the comprehensive national development plan Vision 2050. In addition, construction of the new city of Kharkhorum has begun. We wish you success in implementing these unique projects. Thanks to your forward-looking course, Mongolia’s international standing has significantly strengthened. We sincerely rejoice in all the achievements of a brotherly nation,” he added.

In turn, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh said he was pleased to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan after twenty years.

“You also paid a state visit to Mongolia two years ago, in 2024, and indeed elevated Mongolian-Kazakh relations to a new level of strategic partnership. Undoubtedly, this event will be written in golden letters in the history of our bilateral cooperation. Mr. President, under your far-sighted, wise and highly professional leadership, Kazakhstan has achieved significant success in economic and socio-political development. The Mongolian people closely follow Kazakhstan’s achievements. During your visit in 2024, we signed more than ten documents,” he said.

Khurelsukh also emphasized that several important agreements are expected to be signed during the current state visit.
