Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstan’s oil and gas workers, highlighting the industry’s pivotal role in the country’s economy.
At a ceremony in Akorda, Tokayev praised employees of the sector, noting that more than 200,000 people currently work in the oil and gas complex.
“By working diligently and conscientiously, each of you makes a significant contribution to the country’s development, showing the qualities of a true worker. Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry has deep traditions and a rich history, shaped by generations of professionals. You are worthily continuing their legacy,” the president said.
Tokayev stressed that oil production in Kazakhstan has quadrupled since independence and will soon reach 100 million tons annually. He also recalled that the industry marked its 125th anniversary last year, while 2024 brings several other milestones, including the 80th anniversary of the Atyrau refinery, 40 years of the Shymkent refinery, and the 25th anniversary of QazaqGaz.
“Oil and gas are our strategically important resources. In the years of independence, we have fully realized the value of black gold. Today, the industry is developing dynamically, and Kazakhstan holds leading positions in the global oil market,” Tokayev stated.
Earlier it was reported that starting in September, Kazakhstan and seven OPEC+ countries will increase oil production by 547,000 barrels per day compared to August amid a stable global economy and low oil reserves.
