USA intend to develop closer cooperation with Kazakhstan

The United States intend to develop closer cooperation with Kazakhstan in the public diplomacy and education, Eileen O'Connor, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia and Senior Director of Communications and Public Diplomacy in the office of the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan said in her exclusive interview to TengrinewsTV. The expert on international diplomacy said that she came to discuss youth policies and ways of making young people more involved in the public life of the society with the Kazakhstan authorities. The situation in Afghanistan and the United States' vision of this region after its troops are withdrawn from Afghanistan was also on the agenda. O'Connor said that the neighboring countries had to step up cooperation to maintain the peace and stability in the region. Meanwhile, the United States are satisfied with their interaction with South and Central Asian countries and believe that peace and stability of the region depends on these relations. The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State expressed her opinion about the rallies that had been rocking Ukraine for two weeks. She said that the U.S. were not involved in triggering the unrest taking place in Kiev and the United States were not planning to interfere into the situation and expressed hopes that Ukrainian residents would solve the conflict democratically. And according to her opinion Ukrainian President Vladimir Yanukovich should listen to people and opposition's opinion and try to avoid violence and civil unrest.
