“Secretary of State will be traveling to Bishkek, Samarkand, Astana, Dushanbe, Ashgabad to have bilateral talks with high-ranking government officials in each of the nations. It will be the first visit to Central Asia for John Kerry and the first ever visit to all the five Central Asian states on a single trip for a US Secretary of State”, the statement reads.
While in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city, John Kerry is to have talks with President Nursultan Nazarbayev and attend a sitting of the Committee for Strategic Partnership between the two nations. In Bishkek he is to inaugurate a new campus of the US University and a new building of the US Embassy to Kyrgyzstan. In Samarkand he is expected to meet Foreign Ministers of all the five nations.
His tour to Central Asia is to be preceded by talks on Syria to be held in Vienna.
