U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth J. Fairfax is going to leave his post in Kazakhstan in the middle of September, Tristram Perry, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. General Consulate in Almaty, told Tengrinews.kz. According to him, Fairfax’s departure is related to his appointment to the position of deputy executive director of the International Energy Agency. After his departure, Michael Klecheski will be working as the interim charge d’affaires of the embassy. “Former ambassador to Kazakhstan John Ordway is expected to arrive in October and take over the duties of the interim charge d’affaires until a new ambassador is appointed,” Perry cited the embassy’s official statement. Fairfax used to work as Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq and used to be U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh, Krakow and Kiev. Michael Snowden is currently the U.S. Consul General in Almaty. By Roza Yessenkulova
