UN backs the idea of holding a G-Global forum in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Deputy Secretary General of the UN and UN Director General in Geneva Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as saying at the first Nazarbayev Readings in Nazarbayev University. “From economic and political points of view Kazakhstan is eligible to bid for hosting G-Global under the aegis of the United Nations. G-Global is a unique global organization that has no alternatives in the world. Anti-crisis measures worked out as part of such forum and aimed for recovery of the global economy would have certainly boosted global security as well,” Tokayev said. He said that Kazakhstan’s suggestion to attract countries that demonstrate significant progress in socio-economic development to the multilateral mechanism of negotiations on resolution of pressing issues had generated a positive response in the international community. “Indeed, resolution of the global economic problems should not be a privilege of a small group of countries that received their entry tickets to G-20 for the size of their GDP. This is also a task for the countries that show sustainable growth dynamics. Along with Kazakhstan, the global club could have included such successful countries as Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, UAE, Malaysia and others,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
