Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will visit Bishkek on 26–27 November to take part in the Collective Security Council session of the CSTO, according to the Akorda press service.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization is a regional military-political alliance aimed at strengthening peace, international and regional security, and ensuring the collective defense of member states. Its current members are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, while Armenia’s participation has been “frozen” since 2024.

CSTO statutory bodies are also scheduled to convene in Bishkek on 27 November, where the candidacy of the next Secretary General will be considered.

Tokayev last attended a CSTO Collective Security Council session in November 2024, noting that the organization has become a key institution for maintaining peace and stability across Eurasia. As chair of the CSTO in 2024, Kazakhstan focused on strengthening coordination among member states and improving crisis-response mechanisms.

Kazakhstan chaired the organization throughout 2024, passing this role to Kyrgyzstan on 1 January 2025.
