Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has taken direct oversight of reforms in Kazakhstan’s aviation sector, underscoring the strategic importance of developing regional air cargo hubs.

During a meeting in Astana, the Head of State highlighted that digital transformation must become the backbone of the country’s air transport system. He stressed that cooperation between all types of transport should operate through a unified digital window.

Tokayev noted that although the E-freight system — launched in 2019 to simplify air cargo procedures — was intended to streamline operations, its functionality remains limited and delays in document processing still occur.

The President also drew attention to a growing shortage of qualified aviation specialists. According to him, the industry faces an acute deficit and will require hundreds of new professionals every year.

He instructed the government to urgently reform the training system, expand cooperation with international educational institutions, and establish advanced competence centers.

Tokayev emphasized that the development of the transport and logistics sector is a strategically important task for Kazakhstan and will remain under his personal supervision.
