Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined the results of his recent trip to the United States during a meeting of Kazakhstan’s National Council for Science and Technology on September 26, according to Akorda.
Tokayev stressed that science and technology are of strategic importance for all nations, pointing out that global competition for advanced innovations is intensifying, including in Central Asia.
“Today, the place of any country in the world is determined by the level of science and technology development. Economic growth is directly linked to it — that is an axiom,” he said.
He recalled that Kazakhstan’s strategic goal, as outlined in his latest State of the Nation Address, is to become a fully digital country within three years, making full use of artificial intelligence across all sectors.
The President also reflected on his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York, where he presented Kazakhstan’s priorities and called for “mutual respect, equality and cooperation” as the basis for global peace and prosperity.
During his US trip, Tokayev met with the heads of leading corporations including Amazon and Meta, as well as major financial and investment firms such as Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, Cerberus Capital Management and Citigroup. Commercial agreements were also signed with companies such as Wabtec and PepsiCo.
According to Akorda, 11 agreements were concluded in total, covering key sectors of the economy and amounting to over $5 billion. The documents include investments in transport, logistics, energy and information technology.
Earlier, presidential press secretary Ruslan Zheldibay emphasized that the agreements reached in New York will help attract significant foreign capital to Kazakhstan.
