Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the crucial role of religion in maintaining peace amid ongoing global conflicts.
Speaking at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, Tokayev stressed that great hopes are placed on religious leaders, who bear a special responsibility for fostering intercivilizational dialogue and strengthening trust between people and societies.
"I am confident that religious leaders will do everything possible to prevent the world from sliding into chaos, reminding many politicians of common sense, goodwill and moral responsibility. At the global level, we already have such inspiring examples," Tokayev said.
As examples, he cited the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the Document on Human Fraternity, the Mecca Declaration, the Bahrain Forum, and the Abrahamic Family House in the United Arab Emirates.
According to the President, these initiatives demonstrate that religion becomes a powerful unifying force when everyone acts together, and this experience should be further developed and expanded.
Earlier at the congress, Tokayev also spoke about the tense geopolitical situation and the risks of a nuclear conflict, noting that experts consider the likelihood of "Armageddon" to be the highest in recent decades.
