Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the meeting of the heads of Central Asian states and the German Federal Chancellor.
Opening the summit, President of Kazakhstan thanked Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the leaders of Central Asia for their participation and support of regional cooperation. He noted that the high-level dialogue, which started in Berlin last September, has become regular and trustful.
"This reflects the interest and desire of Central Asian states and Germany to develop strategic partnerships. We will summarize our joint efforts and outline new avenues for cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, environment, transportation, education, and science. I am confident that our discussions will lead to concrete solutions beneficial for all our countries," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to him, today marks a new chapter in the history of multifaceted cooperation in the "Central Asia + Germany" format.
"The socio-economic and scientific-technological progress of Germany serves as an excellent example for many countries. We value Germany's commitment to developing an equitable partnership with all countries in our region, as evidenced by the Social Democratic Party of Germany's document "Central Asia: Building bridges and creating opportunities," said the President of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan aims to expand cooperation in the "Central Asia plus" format, following the formula "Successful Central Asia - Successful Kazakhstan." A comprehensive partnership with Germany, the largest economy in the EU, is a priority. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented his vision for key areas of joint work.
"First, increasing trade turnover. A priority task is to boost trade figures through the implementation of joint regional projects and expanding the range of goods. For example, Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports to Germany by 100 product positions worth 850 million dollars," said the President.
The second priority mentioned by the President is expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
"Kazakhstan, as a reliable supplier of energy resources to Germany, is ready to increase oil exports. We expect support from our German partners to ensure stable hydrocarbon supplies and to enhance the transition to alternative energy sources. We are also open to cooperation in hydrogen energy and propose that Germany consider participating in the project to build a green energy transmission line across the Caspian Sea to Europe," noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Recall: Leaders from Central Asian countries arrived in Astana for the "Central Asia + Germany" summit. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the heads of state and the German Chancellor at the Palace of Independence.
