Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said his main mission is to guarantee Kazakhstan’s security, sovereignty and independence, speaking at a meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology.
“My core mission is to ensure the security of our state, strengthen its sovereignty and independence, and lay a solid foundation for sustainable socio-economic development in these turbulent times. All my decisions are dictated by these urgent tasks,” Tokayev said.
He emphasized that digitalization and the introduction of artificial intelligence represent a long-term, transformative process whose side effects and impact on the global economy still need to be studied.
“This new technological trend will determine the future of nations. There are no established templates here, so we must act decisively and not be afraid to make bold choices. Only then can we fulfill our historic mission — to take a worthy place in the emerging new world order,” the president added.
Tokayev also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in strengthening Kazakhstan’s nuclear science and technology sector. He pointed to partnerships with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia, the World Nuclear University in the United States, CERN in Switzerland, and other leading research centers.
According to him, such collaboration not only demonstrates the country’s scientific potential but also helps attract investment and transfer advanced technologies and expertise. He tasked the government with stepping up international cooperation in nuclear science and instructed the Atomic Energy Agency to develop a long-term research and development program with clear financing mechanisms.
