Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held meetings in New York with executives of major international companies working with Kazakhstan, Akorda’s press service reported.
The visit began with talks with Tim Gitzel, President of Canadian multinational Cameco Corporation, where cooperation in the uranium sector was discussed. Tokayev emphasized that Cameco has long been a reliable partner of Kazakhstan’s national company Kazatomprom, having invested more than $500 million in the country and contributing to technology transfer.
He also noted that Kazakhstan is entering a new stage of energy development, with plans to build three nuclear power plants, and expressed interest in innovative methods applied in the nuclear industry. Gitzel, in turn, briefed Tokayev on the activities and future plans of Inkai, a joint venture that has been operating the uranium deposit in Turkistan Region for over 25 years.
Tokayev also received Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs Global Institute.

The head of state praised the long-term partnership between Kazakhstan and the leading U.S. investment bank, stressing Astana’s interest in cooperation in artificial intelligence and the digitalization of the financial ecosystem.
Cohen shared insights on the Goldman Sachs Digital Asset Platform and its role in advancing digital finance.
Tokayev’s working visit to New York includes an address at the General Debate of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, as well as talks with world leaders and heads of international organizations.
