Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a congratulatory telegram to Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her re-election, the Akorda press service reported.
Tokayev congratulated Takaichi on securing another term as head of government following early parliamentary elections held on February 8.
The President noted that Japan is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Asia and expressed confidence that the expanded strategic partnership between the two countries, based on friendship and mutual understanding, will continue to strengthen for the benefit of both nations.
Tokayev wished Takaichi success in her responsible role and extended his wishes of prosperity and well-being to the Japanese people.
In December 2025, Tokayev paid an official visit to Japan, where he held talks with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. During the visit, the two countries signed 14 intergovernmental and interagency agreements.
According to the President’s advisor and press secretary, the total value of commercial agreements planned for signing during the official visit exceeded $3.7 billion.
