A ceremony to sign the charter of the Peace Council will take place here shortly. The council was created on the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump.

As reported earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was among the first to receive an official invitation from Donald Trump to join the newly established Peace Council on Gaza. Kazakhstan was also invited to become one of the council’s founding states.

The President of Kazakhstan previously sent a reply letter to the U.S. leader, expressing gratitude and confirming Kazakhstan’s willingness to participate in the new international body.

According to Washington’s concept, the Peace Council will be responsible for strategic oversight, mobilizing international resources, and monitoring the fulfillment of commitments related to the peaceful development of Gaza.

The founding executive board, the founding executive board, will include seven members, the White House reports. They are described as “leaders with experience in diplomacy, development, infrastructure, and economic strategy.” Each board member will oversee a specific area considered critical to the stabilization of Gaza.

In addition, a Gaza executive board will be formed to oversee the activities of the new government of the Gaza Strip. This body will consist of 11 members, including four representatives from the founding executive board.

Earlier, Trump described the new body as “the greatest and most prestigious council ever assembled at any time or in any place.”

Expert commentary

Kazakh political analyst Gaziz Abishev previously commented on what may be behind the invitation extended to the President of Kazakhstan.

According to Abishev, the move could be the result of subtle diplomatic work and well-established relations with Donald Trump.

“Apparently, Tokayev managed to build strong relations with Trump — strong enough for Trump to personally invite the Kazakh leader to the G20 summit and later propose his participation in the Middle East peace process. Building such relations with a U.S. president who does not bind himself with long-term diplomatic formalities requires very delicate work,” Abishev said.

In his view, the President of Kazakhstan succeeded in avoiding actions that could have challenged the personal sensitivities of the American leader.
