Tengrinews.kz – U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Julie Stufft has said that relations between Kazakhstan and the United States are at their highest level ever and continue to develop dynamically.
The remarks were made during a ceremony for the presentation of credentials held at Akorda.
“It is a great honor and a great pleasure for me to be in Kazakhstan. The United States and Kazakhstan share long-standing and deep-rooted relations. The United States was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence, and today our partnership is stronger than ever. Our relations are now at the highest level in their entire history,” Stufft said.
She noted that Kazakhstan and the United States cooperate through numerous formats, including cultural agreements, people-to-people ties, and trade and economic cooperation.
Ambassador said that the United States is very pleased to expand cooperation with Kazakhstan and continue strengthening bilateral relations. According to her, the two countries work together in almost all areas, and this cooperation is now developing even more actively than before.
She noted that Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Donald Trump maintain very close relations and communicate regularly. Tokayev visited Washington in November, recently held another conversation with Trump, and is expected to visit the United States again in the near future. Both sides expect the relationship to continue developing dynamically.
According to the ambassador, Tokayev and Trump remain in constant contact and maintain a trusting dialogue.
“Our presidents, President Tokayev and President Trump, have a very close relationship. They will see each other again soon and speak again soon, I'm sure. I just met with President Tokayev and we talked about our priorities for this bilateral relationship, and I know that we have the full support of President Trump in doing that, and I'm very excited to expand this relationship with the support of both presidents. Yes, I had a very, very good meeting with President Tokayev and his team, and also met yesterday with the foreign ministry, and we have a lot of work to do,” Stufft said.
She added that the momentum generated by Tokayev’s recent visit to Washington should be used to further develop trade, economic, cultural, defense and humanitarian ties, as well as people-to-people contacts between the two countries, noting that this work is already underway.
“I would also like to note that alongside my official duties, my family and I are very happy to get to know this wonderful country and its people more closely, and to learn more about Kazakhstan’s culture,” the ambassador concluded.
