Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stated that the potential of Central Asia and its role as a dynamically developing region in global processes are recognized by the leading countries of the world.
According to the press service of Akorda, Tokayev made this statement while speaking at the second "Central Asia – Russia" summit in Dushanbe.
In his address, the head of state thanked the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, for the warm reception and impeccable organization of the summit. He also expressed special thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin for his contribution to strengthening friendship, solidarity, and strategic partnership between the Central Asian countries and Russia.
"The potential of Central Asia, its current and future role as a dynamically developing region in global processes, is recognized by the leading countries of the world," Tokayev said.
This explains the growing interest in negotiations in this format, he clarified.
"However, due to historical, political, economic, and humanitarian factors, Russia holds a special significance for Kazakhstan. It is enough to mention one fact: the border between our countries is the longest in the world (7,591 kilometers)," the President recalled.
Therefore, despite unprecedented geopolitical upheavals and the instability of the global economic environment, Russia has been, is, and will continue to be a partner and strategic ally of Kazakhstan, Tokayev emphasized.
"It is gratifying that the situation in Central Asia in recent years has evolved towards political solidarity, economic cooperation, cultural, and spiritual unity. This positive trend, which has gained irreversible momentum, gives the region a new quality as a promising and significant partner for the Russian state," Tokayev said.
The President emphasized that the first "Central Asia – Russia" summit, held three years ago in Astana, marked the beginning of productive cooperation in a multilateral format.
In his view, the meeting in Dushanbe is aimed at giving a new impetus to long-term multilateral ties with Russia.
"In my understanding, the main goal of such a partnership is to strengthen stability in the Central Asian region to create conditions for more successful multi-faceted cooperation," he noted.
