South Korea will help Kazakhstan research nuclear energy

Samruk-Energy and South Korean KEPCO corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in research and development of nuclear energy, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Samruk-Energy. “The document will enhance the mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea, enable them to perform joint research in development of nuclear energy in Kazakhstan and exchange experience in resolution of current issues of electric energy sector,” the message states. The memorandum was signed during the meeting of Samruk-Energy and KEPCO top managers upon instructions of Nursultan Nazarbayev that he gave after the nuclear security summit in Seoul. KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) is the biggest electric energy company in South Korea dealing with production, transmission and distribution of electric energy and implementation of electric energy projects, including in nuclear, wind and coal energy. Samruk-Energy is 100 percent owned by Samruk-Kazyna, Kazakhstan government's asset management holding.
