Serik Abdenov has been appointed Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Presidential press-service's Twitter. “Serik Abdenov shall be appointed Minister of Labor and Social Protection,” the message states. Serik Abdenov was born in Karaganda oblast on January 15, 1977. He used to work as deputy Akim (Governor) of East-Kazakhstan oblast. He graduated from Kazakhstan Institute of Law and International Relations with a major in law in 1998 and from Karaganda Economic University with a major in economy in 2004. He used to work in the Ministry of Justice and served as deputy head of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry’s administration. In 2003-2004 he worked in commercial structures. Starting from 2004 he worked as deputy director and then director of the Labor and Employment Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. In November 2007 he was appointed Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Protection. On March 6, 2009 he was appointed deputy Akim of East-Kazakhstan oblast.
