Second Kazakhstan investment forum held in Hong Kong

The second Kazakhstan Investment Forum was held in Hong Kong on October 10, Tengrinews.kz reports citing SB Capital. The event was organized by Kazakhstan’s General Consulate in Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions jointly with Kazakhstan company SB Capital and Hong Kong’s Cedrus Investments. The forum was attended by managers and representatives of KazMunaiGas, Kazakhmys group of companies, Air Astana, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Astana Innovations, PWC Kazakhstan, Astana-New City, general and honorary consuls in Hong Kong and Macau, representatives of state authorities and business circles of Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. Kazakhstan Ambassador to China Nurlan Yermekbayev presented to major Asian investors the projects and initiatives implemented as part of the State Program of Accelerated Industrial-Innovative Development, development of the Customs Union and Common Economic Space (CES). Participants of the forum supported the suggestion to annually hold Kazakhstan Investment Forum in Hong Kong. Kazakhstan General Consul in Hong Kong and Macau Nurzhan Abdymomunov stressed the positive results of the previous forum and enhancement of the relations between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. A range of agreements and memorandums was signed during the last year's event: agreements between ETS commodity market and Hong Kong stock market, Astana Innovations and Hong Kong Government Council of Development of Trade. Requirement for entrance visas was cancelled and a direct flight was launched between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. A memorandum of understanding was signed between Astana Innovations and Cedrus Investments. Three information tours to Hong Kong were performed for Kazakhstan companies starting from August 2012.
