Kazakhstan Minister of Education and Science Aslan Sarinzhipov and Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang have met to discuss prospects of scientific and technical cooperation, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the Kazakhstan Ministry. They agreed that scientific and technical cooperation was an important part of bilateral relationships of Kazakhstan and China. The Chinese minister pointed out a positive dynamics in the two areas. He also brought up the issues of cooperation in education sector, including students and teachers exchange programs. At present 240 students from Kazakhstan are studying in Chinese universities and 70 students from China study in Kazakhstan in the framework of the existing agreements of Kazakhstan Education Ministry with the Chinese Ministry, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states and Chinese National Oil and Gas corporation. Sarinzhipov offered to discuss and distinguish new prospects in their cooperation and come up with joint projects. The Minister said that development of academic research was one of the most important directions. He pointed out the necessity of stimulating integrated cooperation that includes a full chain of joint scientific research and development and their commercialization. It was the first meeting of the foreign delegation and Aslan Sarinzhipov who was appointed Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan only recently. The Chinese delegation offered to hold the next meeting in Beijing, China.
