The United States Ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol has spoken about the alleged U.S. involvement in the so-called "color revolutions”, Tengrinews reports.

“Of course, I am hearing a lot of opinions of that sort. I do not agree with this. As for “color revolutions”, it was in fact the internal critique of these nations. As a person, who deals with U.S. affairs in the post-Soviet space, I can only tell you that these talks about the U.S. having some kind of plan to conquer the world does not make sense,” he said in an interview to Kazakh journalists.

“But I understand why such claims have emerged. It is because the U.S. has always been outspoken about democracy and we perceive democracy as something normal. But we did not initiate all those events (“color revolutions”). They have their own political reasons,” the U.S. Ambassador assured.

When speaking about integration processes around the world, George Krol said that if it had been happening because independent nations wanted to be allies and were not forced into the alliances, then the United States of America would have had no concerns about it.

“I worked in Belarus, when Belarus and Russia agreed to create the union in 1994. Our stance has always been the same both that time and now. Whether it is the Eurasian Economic Union or any other political union, if independent states want to cooperate and if it is not forced and there is no pressure, then we have no objections. However, the U.S. would not want any discrimination against, for example, American export or business in such organizations,” he explained.

“The integration is, of course, a very good process. The market is now global and it means that it is normal (to integrate). But it raises concerns if there is an economic union, that wants to isolate economies or threatens them. Meanwhile, when the decision of independent and sovereign countries to join organizations like the WTO or the Eurasian Economic Union is made by them alone, we are not concerned about it then,” the Ambassador said.

According to him, the American diplomats conduct a series of consultations about the integration processes in the post-Soviet space with theirs Kazakh counterparts. They discussed the importance of these processes for the U.S. economic interests in the region.

“As far as I feel and see, there is nothing against the U.S. or against our interests. This did not have any negative effect on American business here, in Kazakhstan, but we are observing the processes very closely,” George Krol said.
