The only railroad station Maimak in Talas oblast used for freight from Kazakhstan to Kyrgystan will resume its work on Friday, September 21, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kyrgyzstan government. The agreement to resume shipments was achieved during talks between customs and border services of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Currently the customs services of both countries and local authorities are working out a temporary scheme of interaction necessary to resume the operations of Maimak railroad station. The station is located at Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border. Transportation of cargos from Kazakhstan via Maimak station was suspended in August. As a result of the suspension of the only customs point at the railroad all operations of the free economic zone in Talas oblast of Kyrgyzstan was paralyzed. The main reason for the station’s suspension laid in discrepancies between the customs legislations of the two countries.
