Tengrinews.kz – Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump could hold a meeting by the end of February or later, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
Speaking to journalists, Peskov emphasized that preparations through the Russian Foreign Ministry would be necessary before the meeting could take place.
"For now, the priority is first to revive and then to restore bilateral relations, which were deliberately damaged by the previous U.S. administration and are currently in a dire state," Peskov stated.
Peskov also noted that Putin would appoint a Russian negotiator for Ukraine-related discussions only after the U.S. side names its representative.
"Once the American side informs us of their lead negotiator on Ukrainian affairs, our president will decide on the Russian counterpart accordingly," he explained.
On February 18, delegations from Russia and the United States held negotiations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that both countries are considering a three-stage peace plan involving a ceasefire, elections in Ukraine, a final peace agreement. Both Moscow and Washington reportedly see the electoral process as a key element in advancing a resolution. However, no official confirmation of these proposals has been made by either government.
