Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has once again highlighted the importance of stability, friendship and unity of the nation, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports.

“If there is no stability, there will be no calm life; there is no prosperity with no friendliness and unity in place. We’ve seen that many times”, he said after the country’s Majilis (lower chamber) approved of the candidacy of Karim Massimov for the position of the PM.

“Libya is torn with standoff among some clans … the state virtually no longer exists; Egypt has faced religion-related clashes between those belonging to different confessions, with 50-60 people being killed on a daily basis if the country were waging a war (…) Syria is facing fratricide comparable to a civil war as there has been no unity and no understanding. The new leadership of Ukraine is threatening to deprive part of its people of the Ukrainian citizenship and prohibit them from speaking their mother tongue (…) it is unthinkable here in Kazakhstan. We are blessed with natural resources and land. We may not worry about the future if there is unity”, President said.

He stressed that maintaining stability and friendship is a task for every citizen to accomplish, rather than a task for the country’s President alone.

“We’ve been through the devastating collapse of the USSR, a tough crisis. From 1992 to 1996 we were insecure over viability of an independent Kazakhstan. Exiting the darkness and chaos seemed impossible back then, but we did survive. Back in 1998 Kazakhstan was hit by the South-East crisis and later by the collapse of the Russian ruble (…) these have been hardships to test us. A market economy, however good it may, always poses tests for economies and requires to be highly competitive. Thousands of companies end up going bankrupt, with new companies emerging to replace them. Overcoming hardships is the way we live. Every time we think the life will be easier once we have tackled a certain issue. However, a new year sets its new tasks to accomplish. It is only thanks to accord and understanding that we’ve been able to accomplish them”, he summed up.
