Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev during his working visit to the UAE discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation with HH General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the President’s Press Service reported November 3. Kazakhstan’s President Nazarbayev emphasized that the project to construct Abu Dhabi Plaza, a staggered matrix of buildings with a retail and leisure podium and a hotel cluster at the base that rises to form a series of office and residential towers in Astana, had entered the stage of actual construction. The Crown Prince expressed satisfaction with the pace of bilateral cooperation of the two nations and stressed that the UAE are ready for further cooperation in the O&G sector and petro chemistry. “Given the bumper harvest of grain this year in Kazakhstan, the UAE may consider importing Kazakhstan’s grain”, the statement reads. The sides also expressed satisfaction with the current progress of efforts to sign an intergovernmental agreement on mutual support to and protection of investments and commended the operation of Al Hilal Islamic Bank in Kazakhstan. The Bank is a 100% subsidiary of Al Hilal Bank, UAE, and the first Islamic bank in Kazakhstan and CIS countries. First Islamic banking license obtained on 17th of March, 2010.
