First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Sagintayev arrived in Kiev to take part in the 12th session of the Kazakh-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation on July 15-16, which was a key stage in the course of preparations for the upcoming visit of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Kazakhstan this fall.
According to the press office of Kazakhstan's PM, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation.
"The participants of the meeting agreed on the need to further deepen the cooperation in agriculture, energy, logistics, industry, tourism and culture sectors," the press office said.
In addition, Bakhytzhan Sagintayev invited Ukraine to take part in the EXPO-2017 to be held in Astana in two years, expressing hope that Ukraine would become a full-fledged participant of the exhibition.
The visit of Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Kiev on December 22, 2014, which was his first official visit since the change of the country's leadership, was a milestone event for the bilateral ties between Ukraine and Kazakhstan, the press office added. During this visit, the two leaders reached a number of important agreements regarding the development of the bilateral cooperation, including the work of the Kazakh-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation.
