President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has arrived in Bodrum, Turkey to participate in the IV Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, Tengrinews reports citing the зresidential website.
The Turkic Council, short for the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, is an intergovernmental organization that aims to promote political and economic cooperation among the Turkic-speaking countries that share common historical and cultural ties. The current members of the Council are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey.
Each year a different member state hosts the Summit with a different topic. This year the Summit will focus on Tourism Сooperation.
During the summit Nursultan Nazarbayev will have bilateral meetings with heads of the Council member-states. President of Turkmenistan will also attend the Summit.
The idea of establishing this Councill was first put forward by Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev back in 2009. The first Summit with the special agenda of Economic and Trade Cooperation was held in Almaty in 2011.
