Baurzhan Abdishev has been appointed Akim (Governor) of Karaganda oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports.
In the last 6 months Abdishev worked as Vice-Minister of Environmental Protection. Before that position he worked as Akim (Major) of Karaganda from January 2010 to last September. He started his career in 2008, heading the department for monitoring social-economic programs. He also worked as deputy and first deputy chairman of the Central Office of the Innovations Commission of Nur Otan party.
Previous head of Karaganda oblast Abelgazy Kussainov was elected head of the Trade Unions Federation on January 28. Kussainov worked as Akim of Karaganda oblast for 1 year. The current Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov worked in this position before him.
