Kazakhstan President told about prospects of the Eurasian Idea that he suggested. Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a greeting to participants of the international scientific forum called Kazakhstan and the Eurasian Idea in the New World that opened today, October 25, in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Ministry of Education and Science. "I first suggested main principles and guidelines of the new integration union, the Eurasian Union, 17 years ago in a addess to professors and students of Lomonossov Moscow State University,” the President's greeting reads. Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the idea of the Eurasian integration in 21st century was becoming a reality. The Eurasian Economic Community had been operating for over 10 years. Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia had created the Customs Union, the core of the Common Economic Space that would start operating on January 1, 2012. “The Eurasian idea currently has millions of followers. Huge civilization prospect is seen in it. This is an opportunity for our countries to take a deserved position in the world and an opportunity for our people to reach a new quality level of economic and cultural-humanitarian interaction. This is our common history of the future that is being written as we speak. Its effectiveness is not only the task for politicians, this is also a careful work of the scientists and experts, active support of the people of our countries,” Nursultan Nazarbayev wrote. International scientific forum Kazakhstan and the Eurasian Idea in the New World is attended by political and opinion leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia, principals of universities-members of the Eurasian Universities Association, leaders of CIS Academies of Science, prominent scientists of Kazakhstan and Russia, managers of Kazakhstan and foreign universities. The total number of participants exceeds 600 people. The goal of the forum is to enhance exchange of experience between universities on development of higher education, discussion of theoretical and practical issues related to implementation of the Eurasian Idea, forming a common Eurasian educational, scientific, economic and humanitarian environment, working out certain measures for practical implementation of the Eurasian Idea.
