Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay an official visit to New York on September 20-22, Tengrinews.kz reports citing an official representative of Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kazakhstan President will take part in the 66th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. “It is expected that UN member-states will focus on the situation in several countries of the Middle East and North Africa, and on prospects of settling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Special events of the General Assembly, the Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and high-level meetings on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and addressing desertification, land degradation and drought in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication will cover acute issues of non-profileration of nuclear weapons, healthcare, ecology, and inter-religious relations,” Askar Adbrakhmanov said. UN Secretary General invited Nursultan Nazarbayev to take part and make a speech at the high-level meeting on nuclear safety on September 22. According to Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry, the invitations were given to seven other UN member-states: the U.S., Russia, France, Japan, Brazil, Ukraine and Korea. Kazakhstan President is expected to have several bilateral meetings during his visit to New York.
