Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev told about flaws in activities of the Commonwealth of Independent States at the anniversary summit of the CIS in Dushanbe, KazTAG reports. “We have to openly admit that CIS activities have certain flaws. Only open opinions exchange and search for joint solutions of current CIS issues is the most effective way of the organization's development,” Nazarbayev said at the extended meeting. According to the President, “there were many opinions that the Commonwealth had exhausted itself out.” He also said that a draft agreement on a free trade zone in the CIS is currently at the completion stage. Besides, Kazakhstan President met with acting president of Moldova Marian Lupu during the meeting of the Council of the heads of CIS member-states in Dushanbe, the President's press-service reported. “The meeting was held in Dushanbe the day before the sitting of the Council of the heads of CIS member-states. The parties discussed the meeting's agenda as well as a wide range of issues of mutual cooperation,” the message states. The anniversary CIS summit opened in Dushanbe on September 5. It is attended by 8 out of 11 leaders of CIS countries. Head of CIS countries will discuss further development of the Commonwealth and current international problems.
