Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the main values of Kazakhstan people were independence, peace and accord, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s press-service. “If we have peace and accord, our children will be happy. Do not forget the words of great Abay (Kazakh writer) who said that the unity of the people is our main value,” the President said at the meeting on Zhanaozen events. “Twenty years ago, for the first time the history of our people, we became independent. We have to treasure this sacred value. The clashes at the 20th anniversary day were condemned by all our people. Miners, metallurgists, workers around the country criticized the clashes,” the President added. On December 22 Nazarbayev arrived in Mangistau oblast to hold a meeting on restoration of Zhanaozen that was damaged during clashes on December 16.
