Nazarbayev arrived in Germany with an official visit, Tengrinews.kz reports. During two days of the visit to Berlin Kazakhstan President is expected to meet with - German Chancellor Angela Merkel, - Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle, - Former Federal President of Germany Horst Köhler, - Former Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher, and - Federal President of Germany Christian Wulff. Nazarbayev will also take part in the opening of Berlin Eurasian Club and presentation of economic projects of German companies and will meet with heads of major German companies, the management of Social-Democratic Party of Germany, CEO of Royal Dutch Shell and chairman of the Eastern German Economic Commission. The President will also take part in the business lunch with representatives of German business circles. As for Berlin Eurasian Club, its main objective is to create an atmosphere of trust, openness and mutual understanding between politicians, experts, businessmen and other communities of Kazakhstan and Germany. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that a package of economic documents worth over 2 billion Euro will be signed during Nazarbayev’s visit to Germany. These documents include: - an agreement between Kazakhstan and German governments on partnership in energy, industry and technologies; - a memorandum of understanding in energy saving, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources between Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety; - a memorandum of cooperation between Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and German Energy Agency; - a joint statement between Kazakhstan and German governments on further cooperation in development of Kazakhstan-German cooperation in higher education; - a memorandum of understanding between Nazarbayev University and Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Freie Universität Humboldt-Universitätät; - a joint statement between Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology on the use of the Program of Innovative-Investment Partnership until 2015. Earlier Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Philipp Rösler expressed his confidence that the agreements reached in Berlin will help further enhance the relations between Kazakhstan and Germany. He also noted the practical importance of Nazarbayev’s visit to Germany and stated that it would give the national economies a political signal and boost full-scale mutually beneficial partnership. According to Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry, Philipp Rösler was introduced with the main statements of Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Address to Kazakhstan people, in particular, with the industrialization program. Professional-technical education, development of metallurgy, chemical industry, agriculture and medicine were among possible spheres of cooperation between Astana and Berlin. Besides, Executive Director of Deutsche Bank, co-chairman of German Association for Eastern and Central Europe (OMV) Peter Tills said that Germany was interested in mutually beneficial cooperation. He also said that Germany needed Kazakhstan's resources and Berlin is ready to provide its technologies to Astana.
