President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Bodrum, Turkey, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press-office.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Bodrum, Turkey, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press-office.

Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived in Bodrum, Turkey to participate in the IV Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States on June 5, 2014. During the summit Nursultan Nazarbayev had bilateral meetings with heads of the Council's member-states.

During the meeting with Azerbaijan's President, he discussed bilateral cooperation and the most acute issues of the international agenda. In particular, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Ilham Aliyev dwelt on the prospects of deepening of the bilateral ties in trade and economy, oil and gas, transport and logistics. They agree on the importance of increasing the trade volume in order to put the existing economic potential to a better use.

In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Ilham Aliyev discussed cooperation within international and regional organizations, and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries.

Nursultan Nazarbayev also took part in the informal meeting of heads of member-states of the Council. At the meeting, the leaders discussed key aspects of the agenda of the upcoming summit and exchanged views on the main areas of multilateral cooperation within international and regional organizations.

The Turkic Council, short for the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, is an intergovernmental organization that aims to promote political and economic cooperation among the Turkic-speaking countries that share common historical and cultural ties. The current members of the Council are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey.
