Nazarbayev meets Defense Minister of Turkey

Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, had a meeting with Defense Minister of Turkey Ismet Yilmaz, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of Akorda (presidential administration). They discussed the joint Kazakh-Turkish electric optical devices enterprise at the meeting. The President of Kazakhstan pointed out the significance of this enterprise for deepening of the countries’ interaction in the defense industry. Nursultan Nazarbayev also stressed the importance of providing the plant with qualified local employees. Ismet Yilmaz called the enterprise a result of incremental bilateral cooperation of the two states in the military-technical sector. Besides, he underlined that the field held good promise and expressed his hope that the partnership would continue developing in future. The joint plant will produce a wide range of electronic boards used in different equipment for submarines and space vehicles. At the next stage the plant will produce infra-red lenses with nano coating. Kazakhstan’s share in the joint project will make 30% at the initial stage with be brought to 67% within 5 years.
