Nazarbayev congratulates Vejonis on Latvian presidency

Nursultan Nazarbayev has congratulated Raimonds Vejonis on election as president of the Republic of Latvia, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of Akorda.

President of Kazakhstan in his congratulatory message expressed confidence that the relations between Kazakhstan and Latvia, which are already based on friendship and mutual trust, would continue strengthening for the benefit of the two nations, enhancing peace and stability.

Nazarbayev wished Vejonis good health and productive term in office, and wished the friendly people of Latvia wellbeing and prosperity.

Raimonds Vejonis previously served as Defense Minister in Latvia. He got 55 votes of the 100-seat parliament in a secret ballot.
