Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has sent a telegram congratulating Hassan Rowhani on his election as Iran's new President, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Nazarbayev’s official website. “Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a congratulatory telegram to Hassan Rowhani over his election as the President of Iran,” the message says. The telegram underlines that active participation of the country’s people in the election process and the voters' support that Hassan Rowhani enjoyed certify the population's trust to his political and economic programs. “I am confident that under your leadership Iran will enter a new stage of its development,” the President writes. In the telegram Nursultan Nazarbayev expresses confidence that the relations between Kazakhstan and Iran, based on friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation, will keep developing for the benefit of both countries. “Using this opportunity, I wish you good health and success in the new position and peace and happiness to the friendly Iranian people,” the telegram says. Rowhani won Friday's election with more than 50 percent of the vote against a divided field of hardline conservatives. He told supporters on Monday that he would do all that is in his power to bring about "the change" they desired after eight years of conservative domination under Ahmadinejad.
