Nazarbayev calls to make industrialization effort more focused
Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has instructed the Government to focus on several directions in the country’s industrialization, Tengrinews reports."First of all we should set the priorities. We should focus on development of several selected sectors only, instead of diffuse our efforts in all directions. Oil and gas, ore mining, food industry, construction materials production and agriculture could become these selected sectors," Nursultan Nazarbayev said about approaches to industrialization of Kazakhstan at the nationwide teleconference bridge on industrialization. According to the President, Kazakhstan has not enough finance and manpower to work in all directions at the same time."Networks of satellite enterprises should be formed around these sectors. We have oil and gas reserves and we should focus on processing them deeply. For this we are building a large petrochemical refinery in Atyrau Oblast in western Kazakhstan. We should work with selected transnational companies in the priority sectors to acquire their engineering experience and apply it locally," Nazarbayev added.Earlier, Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed the Ministry of Economy to stop duplicating production facilities in the country's regions.“Tell me, why are there similar production facilities in one region? Everyone builds cement plants, everyone manufactures railroad wagons. Have anyone even calculated the sales or the local consumption?” the President asked Kazakhstan Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Yerbolat Dossayev last month. The Minister replied that the general map of development of the territories was almost ready. It is called to ensure that there is no duplication of production facilities in the regions.By Altynai Zhumzhumina
