The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has arrived to Sochi, Russia for the opening ceremony of the 22nd Winter Olympics, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press-service. When meeting with the Olympic team of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev said: "Millions of your fellow countrymen are supporting you. We know that you are well prepared for the Games." "Winning an Olympic license is a big sport career victory in itself. We showed excellent results at the Olympics in London, so the expectation are high. I wish you new victories. Our country is doing everything for you to achieve big victories at the sports arena. Funding is provided, new sports venues have been construction, best local and foreign coaches are working with you. I personally support you and closely follow your progress," Nazarbayev said. Days before the Kazakhstan President wished Russia to hold the 22nd Winter Olympic Games successfully and expressed hope that Russia would support Kazakhstan’s bid to host the 24th Winter Olympics in 2022 in Almaty. The opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics 2014 will start at 8:14 p.m. Moscow time on February 7. Kazakhstan skier Yerdos Akhmadiyev will be carrying the Kazakhstan flag at the ceremony. Kazakhstan TV channels Zhabar and KAZsport have obtained rights to broadcast the opening ceremony of 22th Winter Olympics live. The transmission will start at 10:00 p.m. Astana time.
