Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed the Law On amendments to certain legislative acts of Kazakhstan on development of local government, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s official website. The document is needed for implementation of the concept of development of local government approved on November 28, 2012. The law vests Akims (Mayors) of towns of regional subordinance, villages and rural districts with additional authorities to decide on sources of funding and approve plans of their budget incomes and expenses after coordinating them with the local community. The law also vests Maslikhats (local executive body) with powers to elect Akims (Mayors) of towns of regional subordinance, villages and rural districts. Nazarbayev also signed a law that deals with delineation of authorities between government bodies. It is called to further improvement of the state management system, exclude doubling of authorities by public bodies and expand authorities of local executive bodies.
