Murat Ospanov now heads Kazakhstan anti-monopoly agency

Murat Ospanov was appointed head of the Agency for Natural Monopolies Regulation, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov’s Twitter. Murat Ospanov replaced Nurlan Aldabergenov who headed the Agency since January 2008. Ospanov used to be deputy chairman of the Agency from January to October 2008. Murat Ospanov was born in 1967 in Almaty. He graduated from Semipalatinsk Technological Institute of Meat and Milk Industry under Mechanic Engineer major, as well as from Shakarim Semipalatinsk State University with a Bachelor degree in Accounting and Audit. In 2002 Murat Ospanov started his career as the state worker. He was appointed deputy Akim (Mayor) of Semipalatinsk. In 2004-2008 he worked as head of the state procurement department, head of East Kazakhstan department of Kazakhstan Agency for Natural Monopolies Regulation. In January 2008 he was appointed deputy chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Natural Monopolies Regulation. He worked as head of Pavlodar oblast Akim’s administration in 2008-2010. On June 1, 2011 he was appointed first deputy Akim of Pavlodar oblast.
