Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed appointed Advisor to Kazakhstan President

Former Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed has been appointed Advisor to Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press-service. Kul-Mukhammed has been the Minister of Culture and Information since January 16, 2013. The former Head of the Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts Arystanbek Mukhamediuly was appointed the new Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan. The Ministry was renamed from the Ministry of Culture and Information to the Ministry of Culture earlier this month. Serik Akhmetov, Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan, thanked Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed for his work as the Minister of Culture and Information: “You made a significant contribution into development of the country's culture and arts,” he said. Then he introduced the new Minister to the Ministry's staff: “Kazakhstan's multinational culture, tolerance and inter-enthnic accord are our priorities,” the Prime-Minister pointed out and wished the new minister success in his work. Kul-Mukhammed used to work a lot of publishing, he was the executive secretary of Kazakh Soviet Encyclopedia, President of Atamura publishing corporation and then he became a Senator. He served as Minister of Culture, Information and Public Consent in 2001-2003, Advisor to the Kazakhstan President, press-secretary of the President and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration in 2003-2007, and governed Kyzylorda Oblast in 2007-2008. He was Minister of Culture and Information in 2008-2010, then Minister of Culture in 2010- 2011 and served as Secretary of State in 2012-2013. Arystanbek Mukhamediuly started his career in 1984 as an musician of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Zhambyl Kazakhstan State Philharmonic Hall. In 2003 he became General Director of the Department for National and International Culture Programs. In 2005 he worked as President of Kazakh Auyenderi (Kazakh Melodies) company. Mukhamediuly then held the position of Vice-Minister of Culture and Information, Chief Inspector of Social and Political Department, led Culture Projects in the Internal Policy Department of the Presidential Administration. On March 7, 2014 the Ministry of Culture and Information has been renamed to the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan by a presidential decree. The Ministry lost its Committee for Information and Archives and the Communication and the Information Agency of Kazakhstan was created.
