Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry believes that effective drug prevention among young people should focus not only on warnings but also on promoting positive life values — including sports, travel, and even falling in love.
Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Drug Crime Committee Kuandyk Alzhanov said at a briefing that the ministry, together with local authorities and NGOs, organizes concerts, sports events, and awareness campaigns for school and university students.
“We tell young people that drugs are a fake friend. They take away health, family, friends, and the future. Real joy is winning competitions, traveling, falling in love. Life should be lived in a way that makes your friends and loved ones proud,” Alzhanov said.
He stressed that prevention should become a nationwide movement, not just a police task, noting that interagency headquarters have been created in every region to fund and coordinate local initiatives.
Earlier, the ministry also warned citizens to be cautious of online romance scams, where fraudsters posing as foreigners quickly declare love before asking for money or documents.
