Massimov to submit Kazakhstan's application for OECD membership in Paris

During his visit to Paris Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov will submit Kazakhstan's application for a membership in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Tengrinews.kz reports citing the PM's official website. Massimov left for France today, November 21. The application will be submitted tomorrow. According to Prime-Minister's official website, Kazakhstan is currently participating in several projects in cooperation with the OECD, the 3-year project on diversification of Kazakhstan resources for direct foreign investments and improvement of the program on development of sectoral investments is being implemented. The OECD is one of the most reputable platforms for multi-party negotiations on all economic issues, including G7 and G20. 34 countries are currently members of the Organization, including the U.S., Japan, South Korea, the EU and Canada. OECD member-countries and the countries intensely cooperating with the Organization are responsible for 80 percent of the global trade and investments.
